Journaling Urbanity is an attempt at documenting my journey through academia, specifically into the study of and research in urban energy planning. My research focuses on local impacts of the on-going energy systems transformations in terms of spatial, social and structural implications on cities. More specifically, I am interested in community-scale grassroots energy transitions taking place across the US, particularly by marginalized sections of the civil society — low and middle income groups and mostly people of color. The questions which drive this research are simple: how do these grassroots ‘networks’ come about and how do they persist with the carbon economy.

You can find out more about my research from Research Gate and Google Scholar

  1. Ali! I realized you’re not on Tumblr anymore, but I’m glad I found this blog! You’re a great writer, by the way. And I’m sure I’m going to learn a lot on here. Hope you’re doing well 🙂
